Manual

A Living Library is an interactive event that puts a human face on the idea of multiculturalism through starting conversations between people from different backgrounds. It gets its name from the fact that it uses library terminology to describe participants, organizers and event processes.

The Diversity Initiative model of the Living Library (hereafter referred to as DI-LL) was adapted by the IOM Mission in Ukraine in 2007 from the Living Library concept developed by the Danish civil society organization «Stop the Violence» in the year 2000.

The DI-LL is a model whereby the «books» of the library are individuals from different social or ethnic backgrounds and the «readers» of the Books are high school or university students.
